A positive test of COVID-19 and subsequent contact tracing within the UTEP men’s basketball team has led to the cancelation of their upcoming road series against Florida Atlantic, per the athletic department.

The Miners were set to face the Owls on Sunday and Monday, which was originally pushed due to travel issues. This is the first game that has been canceled since the Miners were supposed to host Our Lady on the Lake on Dec. 28. The Owls, on the other hand, have now had three separate series canceled because of COVID-19 issues. They have played in just one series (at UTSA) in almost a month.

UTEP (10-10, 6-10 C-USA) will await to learn more details on whether or not they will be able to return to the hardwood and host Charlotte next weekend (Feb. 26-27). There has not been a return-to-practice date set yet.

Instead of 600 ESPN El Paso airing the men’s games this week, we will have both of the women’s games on Sunday (2:00 PM MT) and Monday (7:00 PM MT).
