Dodgers Trade With Marlins for Hanley Ramirez

The Los Angeles Dodgers helped solve one of their biggest needs late last night by acquiring Miami Marlins’ infielder Hanley Ramirez. The Dodgers also received reliever Randy Choate in exchange for starter Nate Eovaldi and prospect Scott McGough.
Ramirez will help the Dodgers at two different positions. He spent most of his big league career as a shortstop, and can help fill that void while Dee Gordon recovers from a torn ligament in his right thumb. This season, the Marlins moved Ramirez to third base and the Dodgers plan to use him at that position when Gordon returns in August. I still expect another deal in the next few days, and starting pitcher Ryan Dempster is still on the Dodgers’ radar.
