Major League Baseball can be a tough business. Sometimes the timing seems awful. A former budding star for the New York Yankees found that out again on Friday at the Stadium.

Friday night, the Yankees and the Cubs had players facing their former teams for the first time. One of those players was former Pinstripes' phenom, Clint Frazier. A day prior, Frazier told the Chicago Sun-Times, "I like it here. Certainly don’t miss some of the things over there (referring to the Yankees). And I’m really enjoying the way that this clubhouse has maneuvered. It seems like there’s a lot of guys in here that are just accepting of everyone. And it’s been really good for me."

According to theathletic.com, that good feeling lasted another 24-hours for Clint Frazier. The former Yankee was designated for assignment by Chicago hours prior to Friday's series opener in the Bronx. Frazier was among four players that the Cubs either sent down, designated for assignment or placed on the injured list on Friday at 5pm.

"He was upset," said Cubs manager David Ross told The Athletic. "Emotional would be a good word. I think he likes it here a lot and he believes in his baseball skills, which we do too. I think it's just one of those really tough decisions we have to make sometimes, which stink and nobody wants to make those." It stings twice as much getting released in the same stadium that you were released in 8 months prior.

Health and opportunities are the same issues that have followed Clint Frazier throughout his career with the Yankees and now his short stint with the Cubs. The promising young player has never stayed healthy enough to show consistency and baseball executives are far from patient. I am sure someone will give the red-haired outfielder another shot soon.
