Andress came to Mustang Stadium on Friday night with the realization that they would have to shut down a Burges squad that had won three in a row, and put up 62 points the previous week against Austin.  The Eagles came and conquered as they stepped up in this crucial stretch run 1-5A game with a convincing 37-13 victory over the resilient Mustangs.

The first half remained relatively close and competitive as Andress held a narrow 16-13 lead with 3:25 remaining in the second quarter.  Just as the half was about to expire Burges was in an ideal position to tie the game up with a field goal or take the lead as they were at the Andress' 15 yard line with just seconds left.

That is when momentum shifted in an instance as Eagles' SS Otho Redding made one of the most important plays of the game by intercepting QB Matteo Serrano and taking it 95 yards for the pick 6 to give Andress the 23-13 halftime edge.  The Mustangs came out flat in the second half and never recovered from their blunder just prior to the conclusion of the first half, as they would not score again throughout the evening.

Andress' QB Dominique Smith threw two more TD passes in the second half including a spectacular 13 yard pass to the far left corner of the end zone to WR Antonio Gomez as he caught the ball over his shoulder for the picture perfect score.  The Eagles' defense was tremendous overall forcing Bugess' QB Serrano into committing four turnovers in the game which included a fumble and three interceptions.

With the win Andress moves to 6-2, 4-1 in 1-5A and will travel to play at Austin next Friday.  Burgess evens their record at 4-4, 3-2 in District 1-5A, and will have the challenging task of playing at Chapin next week.
