In less than one hour the UTEP Miners will kick off for the final time this regular season against Middle Tennessee State. If UTEP wins at home tonight, they will finish the regular season with a 7-5 record and will next play on December 20th in Albuquerque at the Gildan's New Mexio Bowl. A loss however, would give the Miners a 6-6 record and their postseason chances would become a little more cloudy.

That's because Western Kentucky shocked Marshall yesterday 67-66 in overtime. The win improved WKU's record to 7-5, and they became the fourth C-USA with at least seven wins. The winner of tonight's UTEP vs. MTSU game will be the fifth team to the seven win mark. C-USA has five bowl tie-ins, which means the New Mexico Bowl will need to take a 7-5 team before they can invite a 6-6 UTEP. There is always the possibility that C-USA could work out a trade and send one of their teams to a non-affiliated bowl game in order to accommodate the 6-6 Miners at the New Mexico Bowl. The other possibility is that UTEP could play in another bowl game an as at-large team. However, Sean Kugler's team could make things easy by defeating the Blue Raiders at the Sun Bowl tonight.
