Whoa! The Most Extreme Temperatures In The History Of Texas!

Texas is so BIG that we have it all. And, when it comes to the weather, it's the same. Yes, Texas is known for its HOT summers and, we have our share of COLD winters. But, how EXTREME does it get? You might be surprised. Check out the MOST extreme weather temperatures Texas has seen on both sides of this spectrum.

Let's start with the COLD!

29 DEGREES BELOW • WHAT'S THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE TEXAS HAS SEEN?

29 Degrees Below Zero! Yep, back in 1899 at Tulia in Swisher County in the southern Texas Panhandle.

- All-time lowest temperature: -23° F (Tulia Near on Feb.12, 1899)

February 1899 was a very cold month, thanks in part to a bitterly cold outbreak from the 11th through the 13th. In fact, nothing in the history of Texas quite compares to February 12th 1899.

Some of the coldest weather to ever hit Texas occurred on February 12th of that year. The lowest temperature ever recorded in the state occurred at Tulia in Swisher County in the extreme southern Texas Panhandle. The thermometer dropped to 23 degrees below zero. 120 DEGREES IN SEYMOUR TEXAS

- According to Stacker, the all-time highest temperature in Texas was 120 degrees Fahrenheit. That temperature was recorded in Seymour on August 12, 1936All-time highest temperature: 120° F (Seymour 3NW on Aug.12, 1936)
