The UTEP Miners are 4-0 following a memorable back-and-fourth contest with long time rival New Mexico.  In defeating UNM, the Miners have accomplished something that hasn't been done since 1997; beating both NMSU and New Mexico at home.  In their thrilling 66-63 triumph, Jordan Lathon hit a clutch go-ahead jumper from 17-feet to give the Miners a 64-63 lead with :27 seconds remaining.

The Miners also exhibited a tremendous defensive effort throughout the game as they held UNM to 63 points on just 39 percent shooting.  The Lobos were averaging 90 points per game prior to their loss at UTEP.  This marks the first time since 2015 that UTEP has began a season with a 4-0 record.  Those who were in attendance got to witness one of the more memorable games between these two programs in their storied history with one another.
