UTEP Suffers Their First Loss of the Season to New Mexico
The UTEP Women's basketball team hit a roadblock on Thursday night at the Don Haskins Center as they fell to New Mexico 59-35. The Lobos handed the Miners their first loss of the season, and in doing so remained undefeated at 8-0. New Mexico, who's now receiving votes for both top-25 polls was held to 32.5 points below their season average, a silver lining for UTEP, who is now 4-1 on this young season.
The Miners struggled from the field all night long shooting 25 percent, 11-44 in the game. Two specific things that really led to the Miners' demise were the 25 turnovers that they committed, which resulted in 22 UNM points, and 12 three pointers throughout the contest made by the Lobos. The battle for the boards was won handily by UTEP, as they held a 44-31 edge.
Tamara Seda continues to impress as she recorded her third consecutive double-double with 11 points and 13 boards, while Katarina Zec added 9 points, and Zuzanna Puc had 5 points and 8 rebounds. Roseshonda Patterson contributed with 5 points and Faith Cook registered a career high 7 boards.
