In what was a crucial C-USA game, the UTEP Women's basketball team fell to LA Tech in a hard fought battle at the Don Haskins Center on National Girls & Women's in Sports Day.  The Miners,14-9, 5-5 C-USA, had three players in double figures with Tamara Seda pouring in 23 points while Katarina Zec added 15 points and Zuzanna Puc tallied 13.

The Miners led 33-32 at the half but the Lady Techsters opened up the second half on a 14-2 run to take a 46-35 lead with 7:03 to play in the period.  The Miners displayed their resiliency in the fourth quarter by getting back into the game, but LA Tech's tremendous 3-point shooting, (44.4%) was too much for them to overcome.  UTEP shot a better percentage than LA Tech at 46.2, hit more overall field goals 24-23, and held a slight advantage on the boards 32-31, but the third quarter did them in.

The Miners had a chance to tie the game up in the closing seconds, but Puc missed an off balanced three point attempt, and the rest is history.  UTEP will head east for a two game road trip at Marshal in Huntington, WV next Thursday at 4 pm MST, and at Old Dominion on Saturday at noon MST in Norfolk, VA.  You can listen to both contests with the Iceman on 600 ESPN El Paso.
