UTEP Linebacker Tyrice Knight Receives Invite to 2024 NFL Combine

Now former UTEP linebacker Tyrice Knight received an invite to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, as he announced the news formally on social media Friday afternoon.

Knight, a standout linebacker that played in 45 games since 2020 for the Miners, is seeking to become the first UTEP player to be selected in the NFL Draft since Will Hernandez was taken 34th overall by the New York Giants in 2018.

The Combine will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and will be held from Feb. 29 to March 3. More than 300 of the best college football players are invited to this event.

Ahead of the NFL Draft, Knight has been a part of different offseason programs and events. He will be playing in the upcoming Reese's Senior Bowl on Feb. 3, where he will be able to showcase his skills in front of pro scouts during the week of practice and during the Senior Bowl itself.,

Some prognosticators suggest that Knight could be picked up anywhere between the fourth and seventh rounds.

He is coming off his most productive tackle season in 2023, where he totaled 140 total tackles, 7.0 tackles per game (No. 1 in FBS), 4.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss.

The Lakeland, Fla. native had multiple opportunities to leave in the transfer portal during his time at UTEP, but elected to play all four seasons with the Miners before transferring over from Independence Community College. He finished his UTEP career with 391 career tackles, which ranked ninth in the UTEP all-time tackle list.
