Earlier this evening, UTEP women's basketball head coach released a statement on the condition of senior forward Kayla Thornton, who collapsed in the Don Haskins Center tunnel following the Miners' 81-74 win over East Carolina.

"Kayla Thornton is improving but she has not yet been cleared to return to the basketball court. Once the doctors have given Kayla the green light, we will be sure to let you all know. Thank you to everyone for all of their support and concern."

The Miners host UT San Antonio Wednesday, which is "Senior Night" for Thornton and teammates Kelli Willingham and Kristine Vitola. All tickets to the contest will be free as part of the ongoing celebration for National Girls & Women In Sports Day.
