UTEP Basketball Transfer Portal Tracker: Bynum, Barnes & Camper Jr. Hit the Portal
The NCAA Transfer Portal officially opened on Monday, and several UTEP Miners men's basketball players wasted no time entering their names in the portal. Among the most notable departures include starters Devon Barnes, David Terrell Jr. and Corey Camper Jr., along with double-digit scorer Ahamad Bynum.
Joining Barnes, Camper Jr., Terrell Jr. and Bynum are Babacar Mbengue and DaCannon Wickware.
Following a disappointing eighth place finish in Conference USA, including a 7-11 league record and a quarterfinals exit in the tournament to the eventual champions Liberty, the Miners are destined for an offseason shake-up. Head coach Joe Golding hinted at changes coming during his final interview after losing to Liberty in the CUSA Tournament.
Camper Jr., a two-year player at UTEP, is coming off his best college season yet. Thanks to the new JUCO eligibility rules, Camper Jr. is able to exercise another season of college basketball elsewhere. Though an injury hurt his chances at an outright all-conference honor, Camper Jr. finished this season averaging 10.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, while shooting 40% from the field.
Terrell Jr. finished as the CUSA Freshman of the Year in 2024 and was recognized on the All CUSA team as an honorable mention in 2025. He averaged 8.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists, while shooting 48% from the field this past season.
Bynum played in 29 of UTEP's 33 games, mostly coming off the bench, where he shot 44% 3-point range and averaged 10.3 points per game. He didn't finish the season with the squad in the CUSA Tournament and was dismissed after their regular season final loss to LA Tech. He was a JUCO transfer from Trinity Valley Community College.
Barnes averaged 10 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in his lone season with the Miners after transferring from Tarleton State. He started 27 of 33 games for the Miners this past season at the point guard spot.
Mbengue and Wickware hardly played this season.
More news could be expecting to hit soon in regards to potential staff changes.
