TxDOT Will Be Working Transmountain Until 2021 – Here’s What You Need To Know
I know how much you love to hear about road construction so here’s the latest road project that you’ll have to deal with beginning in November.
TxDOT will be working on Transmountain Road and will be reconstructing almost ten miles of the roadway. Transmountain is a gorgeous ride, but a lot of people use it to get back and forth across town. There are a lot of commuters who rely on getting over Transmountain quickly, but when construction begins, you will need to make sure that you give yourself extra travel time or even map out an alternate route to avoid any delays when you drive Transmountain.
TxDOT crews will be working on 9.5 miles of pavement on from about a half mile west of Resler to a quarter of a mile west of US 54. Contractor crews have already begun preparation during this week which didn't have much impact on traffic. The problems won't arise until they begin to implement a long-term traffic switch in late November.
When TxDOT contractor crews get down to work next month, traffic will be down to one lane for stretches at a time in both directions. In addition to the repaving, there will also be new metal beam guardrail fences and drainage installed. Thank goodness for the guardrail fence because I'm a huge wuss and hate heights.
Construction is expected to take more than a year so you'll be dealing with this until spring of 2021. Make sure you're ready if you use Transmountain so you don't get stuck in road construction traffic.
