If you want to vote in the Texas primary runoff election, you will need to be registered to vote by today.

With all the madness going on all over the country, I am guessing that the remaining 2020 elections will see some of the largest voter turnouts ever. You will have to register by today though and it's too late to do so by mail. You will need to complete and deliver an application to the registrars' office located at 500 E. San Antonio Ave., Suite 314. For more info, call (915) 546-2154.  Applicants must meet these requirements:

  • You are a United States citizen;
  • You are a resident of the county where you submit the application;
  • You are at least 17 years and 10 months old, and you are 18 years of age on
    Election Day.
  • You are not a convicted felon (you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole); and
  • You have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote. - votetexas.gov

If you're not sure whether or not you're already registered, click here to find out.  The 2020 primary runoff, originally scheduled for May 26th, was moved to July 14th due to the COVID 19 pandemic. To see the entire ballot, click here.

A suggestion from me: Don't make your decisions based on party alone. Look at each office and individual separately. Know who they are and what their agenda is. Being loyal to a party is great but, if that particular candidate is incompetent, putting him/her in office does neither the state, the county, the party, or you any good.

And forget that straight-ticket nonsense ...  think!
