The End of an Era? Kansas Beats Texas For First Time In 78 Years
We all know that nowadays the mentality of sports fans and owners have become "What have you done for me lately?". Well, if you're a Kansas fan who is under the age of 78 you don't know what a victory against the Texas Longhorns feels like (unless you're a basketball fan).
The Jayhawks entered the game as a 23 point underdog on the Las Vegas spread. None of that mattered as the Kansas Jayhawks roared after trailing the Horns 7-0 after the first quarter. Eventually Kansas and Texas would trade scores and found themselves all nodded up at 21 after 4 quarters of play.
After stopping Texas in Overtime due to an interception on the second play that Buechele threw to Mike Lee, Kansas only needed a field goal to win. Low and behold a field goal is what they got from Matthew Wyman. That was all that the Jayhawks needed to knock off Texas 24-21. Check out the reaction the game had on Twitter.
The biggest cliché in sports is "It ain't over till it's over" but this win by Kansas over Texas was long overdue, 78 years overdue, for Jayhawks fans. Although Texas isn't having the greatest season this year (5-6), don't tell the fans of the now 2-9 Jayhawks that this win wasn't a big one.
