Following the cancelation of the Rice game due to positive cases of COVID-19 within the program, UTEP football has temporarily suspended all football team activities, Director of Athletics Jim Senter announced Sunday.
The UTEP Miners (1-11) concluded their season on Saturday off a 30-16 loss to Rice. UTEP struggled defensively, allowing 371 total yards against one of the worst offenses in the country.
Despite a late spirited comeback by the Rice Owls (1-8, 0-6 C-USA), the Miners (1-8, 1-4 C-USA) held onto their early 34-3 lead to take the eventual 34-26 victory over Rice, thus snapping the longest active losing streak in FBS.
