The El Paso streetcars have had a busy summer! While the rides were free, the city filled the long summer days with plenty of fun activities that incorporated and encouraged El Pasoans to ride the streetcars. From live music, book readings, lucha wrestlers and more, the city worked hard to get people to see the streetcars as a fun, environmentally and economically great transportation option. Now more people are riding on the streetcars and using them to get from the UTEP, the Cincinnati Entertainment area, and downtown El Paso.

Starting today and for the entire month of September, the fares to ride the streetcars will be waived. Instead, riders can donate any amount of money through the fare boxes in the streetcars towards the El Paso Strong Ride project. The El Paso Strong Ride project is a fundraising effort to help finance a permanent memorial for the victims and survivors of the August 3rd El Paso Walmart shooting.
