Southwest University’s new television commercial has tapped John F. Kennedy’s inaugural presidential speech to share a message of hope to all during this difficult time.

The new commercial from Southwest University features amended words from John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Address back on January 20, 1961, and serves as a reminder that we are El Paso Strong.

The 35th president’s famous words resonate now more than ever that there is hope at the end of this long and somewhat dark period for us all as the coronavirus pandemic has uprooted our daily lives.

The Southwest University commercial takes certain passages from Kennedy’s Inaugural Address saying:

“United, there is little we cannot do…

Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, and encourage the arts and commerce.

The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it — and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.”

Even though the actual speech is much longer and addressed other issues that we faced as a nation at that time - the message of hope is not lost and still rings true today.

Thank you Southwest University for reminding us that we are in this together and that we will overcome this pandemic together because we are El Paso Strong.
