I love riding the downtown El Paso streetcar. It's historical, so old school, and it takes you to parts of downtown that are so completely El Paso and really reminds you what our city is all about. During the Christmas holidays, it's a lot of fun to ride because you can see the lights of San Jacinto and shop the shops that are along the route.

Next weekend, you'll not only be able to ride the downtown streetcar, you'll be able to ride with a couple of very important guests. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be riding the streetcar courtesy of the El Paso Public Library. All year long there are special Read and Ride events on the downtown streetcar and on Saturday, December 14, you can ride and listen to Santa and Mrs. Claus read stories and listen to Christmas music. There will be snacks for the kiddos, crafts, and goodie bags while they last. You can even get your Christmas song on with Christmas karaoke.

This is a great time to see the Christmas decorations in San Jacinto Plaza during the day and get some pretty Instagram photos of the plaza Christmas tree. You can get more information about the Read and Ride Christmas Edition event by calling (915) 212-7323.
