MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis running back Marquis Warford has been dismissed from the football team.

Memphis athletic department spokesman Ron Mears confirmed Tuesday that Warford was no longer a member of the team. He did not provide any details of Warford's dismissal. The Commercial Appeal first reported Warford's status.

Memphis coach Justin Fuente told paper, "I have indicated to (Warford) that he is no longer welcome on this team. I do not know what his plans are. We wish him all the best."

Warford rushed for 303 yards and a touchdown on 51 carries this season as a freshman from San Antonio. He ran for 173 yards and a touchdown Sept. 21 in a 31-7 victory over Arkansas State, but he had just one carry over the final five games of the season.
