Something interesting happened today, that might go under the radar for most UTEP fans. Conference USA announced that the UTEP/Southern Miss women's basketball game that had been scheduled to play last Saturday in Hattiesburg would be made up next Monday morning at 11 a.m. The trip works out perfectly for head coach Kevin Baker since he will then travel home later Monday before leaving again for San Antonio and UTSA next Thursday night.

What I found interesting is that the Miners, who lost two games last week due to Covid will play Monday as a make-up day. That makes the most sense since the team is scheduled to play every Thursday and Saturday. It does mean a hectic week of basketball, with three games played over 5 days. However, the alternative would be to award a forfeit win to the opposition, which is exactly what happened to NMSU's men's basketball team last week when their scheduled road game against Lamar was canceled due to COVID.

The UTEP men's basketball team was supposed to be in Murfreesboro on Saturday, January 1st, but that game was postponed due to Covid within the Blue Raiders program. There is no word yet on a makeup date for that contest.
