The family of an El Paso man that was tragically killed after two trains delayed in El Paso’s lower valley is hoping that the community will show their support this Friday at an event meant to raise funds to assist the family during this tough time.

Back in August, Mario Aurelio Navarro, who was a train conductor for Union Pacific, was guiding the engineer into the rail yard when a derailment device that was not removed impacted the derailment, causing Navarro to be hit and killed by the train car.

The tragic incident came as a shock to locals who knew Navarro but it was his family that was the most impacted by this tragedy.

"We will all miss him more than words can express. He was not just our co-worker but our brother as well. I cannot describe how this hurts. I would like for everyone to please pray for his family. They need it more than ever,” read a post on a GoFundMe page created for Navarro’s family.

Navarro was a loving son, father and a husband and he leaves behind two young children and a wife.
