Now, he's getting his first taste of real competition.

The junior college transfer is in a race with sophomore Daniel Sams for the starting nod with Kansas State just over two weeks away from playing its season opener.

Kansas State coach Bill Snyder said it's possible a starter won't be decided until shortly before the Wildcats play North Dakota State on Aug. 30.
