Experts Warn Texans Not To Run Fans All Night
Texas summer temps are no joke and Texans will do just about anything to try and stay cool. Experts say running the fan all night shouldn't be one of them though.
Leaving your fan running all night may seem like a good way to enjoy a cool and restful nights sleep but it can come with some side effects that may not be worth the couple of degrees you knock off the temp.
The first reason to not run the fan all night doesn't seem like a strong argument against the practice. You wouldn't think being "too" cool would be an issue but, apparently, it is.
Running your fan all night can actually cool the room too much? Sounds crazy but it can. Depending on the ambient temp, your body may start working extra hard to warm itself and that can lead to a poor nights sleep or lots of waking during the night.

Why Else Is Running The Fan All Night Bad?
Keeping the fan on all night moves the air around but it also blows dust, dust mites, pollen and other allergens around causing your allergies and/or asthma to kick in. That's not going to help you sleep any.
Fans can also trigger congestion but there is a simple way you may be able to help avoid that. Drink 2 liters of water during the day to ease congestion at night.
The moving air can also cause dry, irritated eyes and can also bring on coughing spells.
Finally, the cool air hitting your body can cause you to tense up a bit which will cause you to be sore the next day. Especially if you went to bed with sore muscles from working out or something to begin with.
I usually leave a ceiling fan on at night but I may try a night or two without it just to see if these guys are right.
