Where Is the True Smallest Buc-ee’s Location in Texas

They say that everything is bigger in Texas & that certainly rings true if you go to a Buc-ee's convenient store. Anytime you walk inside one, you forget that it's a gas station because of how much stuff is inside. Especially when you consider the largest one in Luling is over 75,000 square feet. But what does the SMALLEST Buc-ee's location look like? Well to do that, we need to go to where it all started.

You'll find the smallest Buc-ee's near Lake Jackson, Texas

To give a brief history lesson, Buc-ee's was founded in 1982 in Clute, Texas, near Lake Jackson. At 899 Oyster Creek Drive, you can still find the very first Buc-ee's location that opened up in Texas. At a whopping 3,000 square feet...it's been called the "SMALLEST" Buc-ee's location in the entire state.

It's quite surreal when you look at the original Buc-ee's location because...well it looks like a normal gas station like a Circle K or Valero. It's got the iconic logo but it's striking looking at the size of the OG Buc-ee's compared to the ones you'd find all over the country.

Highway 90 has also been known to have a small "Buc-ee's" of its own

The original location is small but is it the smallest one? Apparently not. In the West Texas desert you can sometimes spot THIS "Buc-ee's" between Marathon & Sanderson and no...it's not a mirage.

Yes that is indeed a building with a Buc-ee's sign with Bucee the Beaver (although he looks a little different doesn't he?). This is of course not a real store; it's an art project that's been there since at least 2022 & has reappeared in 2023.

While this is not an OFFICIAL store, it's often joked that IS the smallest Buc-ee's in the world. I'm inclined to say that the original Lake Jackson Buc-ee's is the TRUE smallest Buc-ee's in Texas, this one in the West Texas desert...yeah this one is a competitor for sure.
