Does This Texas Town Have The Most “Texas” Name?

Texas is loaded with towns, big and small, and they have all kinds of names. Some are simple, some descriptive, some hard to pronounce but this one is just, totally, Texas.

No, it's not Texas City, Texas; it's a small town near Dallas with a name that says a lot without saying anything. Mildly displayed toughness that is quintessential "Texas".

I bet the residents of this town love the answer they give when people ask 'em where they're from even more than the rest of us love the simple answer of "Texas".

Texas has a ton of cool places and col names. Some, named after heroes of the Texas revolution, conjure images of tough, brave people fighting insurmountable odds like (Sam) Houston.

Some of the weird ones include tongue twisters like Nacogdoches and Waxahachie. Some aren't hard to pronounce, they're just not pronounced the way you'd think. Gruene, (pronounced Green) and Boerne, (pronounced Bur-nee), for example.

Others describe the place like El Paso - "The Pass". So named because it's a place where you can easily, despite the season, cut from one side of the mountain to the other.

What's The Most Texas Town Name?

Given it's tough reputation and past filled with revolution, famous outlaws and famous gunfights alike as well as a population known to be armed more often than not; the answer to that question has to be - Gun Barrel City, Texas.

How Did Gun Barrel Get Its Name?

It was named after the road to get there - a road so straight it was compared to a gun barrel and christened Gun Barrel Lane. The town motto is "We Shoot Straight With You", the town emblem is a pair of crossed pistols and the town mascot is ... well, once was, anyway ... Yosemite Sam. How cool is that?
