Texas Monthly just named a new cuisine they call "New Tejano" and listed the 50 best New Tejanano tacos in Texas ... and you're damn right they came through El Paso.

Mexican, and first-generation Mexican Americans, have started blending their classic recipes with ingredients native to Texas. The result, the aforementioned "New Tejano," is turning the taco world upside down.
Texas Monthly "Taco Editor" José R. Ralat went on a quest to explore the New Tejaino movement and ranked the 50 best New Tejano taco joints in Texas.
Ralat's journey across the Lone Star State eventually brought him to the Mexican food capital of the world -- El Paso. There, he found Taqueria El Tiger, located at 3900 Rosa. They took the #5 spot in the top 50 with their blend of Mexican, Texas and a splash of Korean cuisine. Learn more about them here.
Jorge Ortiz, of El Paso’s Taqueria El Tiger, is just as much a representation of this evolution. He combines the traditional fillings of tripe and soft chicharrón on a tortilla made with heirloom corn for one of his tacos, the tripa y tembloroso. Ortiz adds on top a bit of kimchi bathed in smoky morita salsa, balancing funky flavors with homey ones (and Mexican cooking with Korean). - Texas Monthly
