For the first time ever, UTEP will face UTSA in the Conference USA opener for both teams Saturday in the Sun Bowl in a game that could end up being a great conference rivalry. So, how are Sean Kugler and the Miners getting ready for the Roadrunners?

The coach, players and other staff talked about preparations for UTSA, coached by former national champion Larry Coker, who led the Miami Hurricanes to their last national title in 2001.

UTEP is 1-1 after doubling up New Mexico State, 42-21, last weekend in Las Cruces, NM. The Roadrunners are trying to get back to .500 after losing to Arizona in Tucson last weekend, 38-13.

Kugler has called UTSA one of the more solid teams top-to-bottom that his Miners will face this season. There may not be one shining star for the Roadrunners, but the sky is far from dark for UTSA.

Now, if they can just do something about that hand sign that looks just like UTEP's, but turned sideways.
