High School Football Faces Another Setback with More Postponements
Over the past 24 hours, four programs in El Paso high school prep football saw their games scheduled for Friday postponed to a later date due to complications with COVID-19.
In 1-6A, the Eastlake-Americas matchup was postponed on Wednesday due to a case of COVID-19. On Tuesday night, it was announced that the 1-6A matchup between Eastwood-Pebble Hills would also be postponed for the same reason.
The two games—arguably the top two matchups of the week—will try to play their contests during the weekend of Oct. 29-30.
There's been a total of eight games that have now been canceled or postponed in El Paso, including Irvin's two matchups, Cathedral's first two games and El Paso High's matchups versus Bel Air and Austin.
The number of active COVID-19 cases reached another high in El Paso with 398 new cases and 4 delayed testing results being reported for a total of 4,625 active cases and 26,432 cumulative cases, announced the City of El Paso on Wednesday.
