Football Players Claim Coach Told Them to Hit Referee
A couple of week ago, a video from a high school football game between Marble Falls and San Antonio John Jay came out in which two players targeted a defenseless referee during a play and take him out.
The video made national headlines and today on Good Morning America, Michael Moreno and Victor Rojas went on the show to explain why they hit referee Robert Watts. They claim that they were just doing what they were told to do by an assistant coach, Mack Breed. The players claim that Watts had used racial slurs against the team and was making bad calls. Then Moreno says that Breed told him and Rojas to take out Watts:
“You need to hit the ref. He needs to pay the price.”
Both teenagers were very apologetic for their actions. Breed is on paid leave until the investigation is concluded.
