In two seasons, the El Paso Chihuahuas can add division champions to their long list of accomplishments. The team completed their improbable run with a 78-66 record, including a 19-10 record since Aug. 11 to win the Pacific Southern Division by one game. That included taking three out of four games against division leading Las Vegas during the final week of the season and three huge wins at Reno during their final series. The Chihuahuas actually had to wait about 45 minutes inside their clubhouse Sunday night to find out if they were division champs. They listened to the Las Vegas broadcast but were finally able to pop the cork on the champagne bottles and celebrate after the Tacoma Raniers knocked off the 51s 6-3.

Chihuahuas manager Jamie Quirk joined 600 ESPN El Paso Sportstalk this afternoon and talked about his team's effort this season and what he told them after they won the division Sunday night. The skipper also previewed their first round playoff series with Fresno, which starts tomorrow night.
