Watch El Paso Chihuahuas Division Clinching Clubhouse Celebration [VIDEO]
Part of the fun about winning a division in sports is the locker room celebration. Although the El Paso Chihuahuas defeated Reno 7-4 Sunday night, the team had to wait for nearly another hour until the end of the Las Vegas 51s game with the Tacoma Raniers before they could bust out the champagne. The team listened to the game on the Las Vegas radio feed, and then at about 10:37pm El Paso time, the last out was made in the Raniers' 6-3 win over the 51s. At that moment, the Chihuahuas clubhouse knew that they had just won the Pacific Southern Division in their second year of existence.
As you could see in the video above, the team enjoyed their champagne and beer celebration. Despite losing their final game of the regular season today to Reno 10-2, they still finish the year one game ahead of Las Vegas for first place. Next up are the Fresno Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs which begin on Wednesday. Tickets are going fast, but a limited number are still available at the Chihuahuas' box office and online.
