There’s a new Veterinarian in town and I will be the first to say that he is just as adorable as the pets he treats, and I wasn’t alone in noticing that one detail when I recently shared a photo of Dr. Antony Chacon on my Instagram page.

But before we get into the thirst comments, let's talk about the really important part of this story; El Paso Animal Services has hired a new veterinarian and he’s a borderland native!

After experiencing an almost year-long vacancy amid the nationwide veterinary shortage, El Paso Animal Services is excited to welcome Dr. Antony Chacon to their talented team.

“I am excited to have Dr. Chacon join our El Paso Animal Services Team. He has hit the ground running by providing much-needed spay and neuter surgeries and medical oversite for the animals in our care,” said Terry Kebschull, El Paso Animal Services Director.

Dr. Chacon grew up in Anthony, New Mexico, and is a Gadsden High School graduate. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a bachelor’s in Biological Sciences.

“As a kid, I grew up caring for and taking in the stray and homeless pets in my neighborhood—now, I’ll be able to make a lifesaving impact on the pets in our community, giving them a chance to experience a good life,” said Dr. Antony Chacon, El Paso Animal Services Veterinarian.

After graduating from NMSU, Dr. Chacon made the move across the country to London, England to attend the University of London-Royal Veterinary College. He graduated in 2014 and began practicing veterinary medicine in the United Kingdom.

Although Dr. Chacon loved the work he was doing back in London, he missed being home with his family so he decided to bring his talents back to the borderland to use his 8 years of veterinary experience to help the animals of El Paso.

He loves animals, he loves his family?! WE ARE NOT WORTHY!! Oh. And did I mention that he had two pet ferrets? I know, right?! *Cue Aweeeeee’s*

I recently posted a photo of myself interviewing Dr. Chacon on social media and the thirst comments came rolling in. Of course, I added to the thirst but It’s only because I needed more content for this article…… *grins*

El Paso Animal Vet Sends A Few Pet Owners Into Heat:

"Hellooooo, Nurse!"

"I suddenly need to see a vet!"

"I’m worried about your dogs too. Make an appointment and make sure you have a follow-up scheduled."

Some people wondered why I didn’t tag the doctor in the photo I shared and the answer to that question is simple. Dr. Chacon does not have social media so, sorry ladies. There will be no slipping into the Dr.’s DM’s.
