The Dallas Cowboys have released troubled running back Joseph Randle. The Cowboys say that Randle's off field issues and lack of production this season lead to the decision to release him.

Randle took over as the starting running back for the Cowboys after DeMarco Murray signed with the Philadelphia Eagles but he didn't live up to the hype. This season, Randle has 76 carries for 315 yards and four touchdowns. Randle would be somewhat productive in the first half of games, but he would be a non factor in the second half of those games. He missed the game against the Seattle Seahawks with an injury.

Randle might also face disciplinary action from the NFL for his off field issues. Without Randle, the Cowboys have Darren McFadden, Christian Michael and Rod Smith at the running back position
