A source told 600 ESPN El Paso that forward Christian Romine will leave the UTEP men's basketball program and transfer to another school. Romine played in just 14 games as a freshman for the Miners and averaged less than four minutes per game. He scored 0.9 points and 0.4 rebounds per game. He contributed 15 points and nine rebounds per game as a senior at Mahomet (ILL.) Seymour High School.

UTEP returns Matt Willms at the low post for next season along with Paul Thomas, Brodricks Jones, and Kelvin Jones. The Miners will also have Josh McSwiggan eligible for the first time for the 2016-17 campaign. Romine's departure also frees up another scholarship for the Miners. USC graduate transfer guard Katin Reinhardt is rumored to be visiting UTEP this weekend. He averaged 11.4 points per game in nearly 27 minutes per game last season. The 6'6 Reinhardt is also rumored to be considering many other top college basketball programs including Texas, Xavier, VCU, and Michigan.
