Bravos Host Tigres Tonight After First Loss of Season

Bravos de FC Juarez suffered their first loss of the season this past weekend losing to Necaxa by the score of 1-0 in the city of Aguascalientes. Facundo Batista was the hero of the night for the home team scoring the lone goal of the match in the 36th minute to give Necaxa their second win of the season.

Necaxa continues to have the number of any soccer team from Juarez regardless if their name is Indios or Bravos. Over the last decade a team that has historically been known for playing a 'vanilla' brand of soccer has defeated professional soccer teams from the Borderland in pretty much the same way they won once again this past Friday night countless times.

This past Friday, FC Juarez dominated in all aspects of the match, Necaxa had one thorough opportunity, one serious threat on goal and the ball found the back of the net.

This happened in the 36th minute when a long ball was sent and chased down by Batista down the right flank after the ball was carelessly turnover by the Bravos. Batista took a right footed strike as soon as he crossed into the Juarez goal box. Center defender for Bravos, Alejandro Arribas was chasing down Batista but did not get to the play in time to block the shot that was placed just inside of the left post getting past goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera.

FC Juarez dominated the second half spending a majority of the time with the ball in possession in their offensive third. Unfortunately, the goal never came for the team from the Borderland.

After the match Bravos head coach, Hernan Cristante said, "Today our team played better than our opponent. What we lacked was hierarchy, patience and tranquility in the chances we created on goal to put the ball in the back of the net. Once again we created more than our opponent and I believe that is obvious."

Bravos will have to turn the page quickly on their first defeat of the season as tonight they will host Tigres. The team of the decade (2010’s) come into Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium this evening winning their last three matches after losing their season opening match. Most recently they defeated Liga MX defending champion Atlas at home by the score of 2-0 this past Saturday. It will also be the first time that defensive midfielder Jesús Dueñas faces his former club since he joined FC Juarez.

Today’s match is scheduled to kickoff at 6 p.m. MT and will be televised nationally on Fox Deportes.
