FC Juarez will face the Colorado Rapids on Friday night in the round of 32 of this year’s Leagues Cup. The Bravos advanced to the knockout stage of the tournament by winning their group that was comprised of two MLS teams.

The Bravos defeated FC Dallas in the Metroplex their opening match and last Sunday 2-0, four days later traveled to the state of Missouri and defeated St. Louis CITY SC in a penalty kick shootout.

For that achievement, the Bravos were rewarded by once again having to travel to the ‘Centennial State’ to face the Rapids who finished second in their group. Last year the Bravos made it out of the group stage of the inaugural competition before being eliminated by LAFC in the round of 32.

This year the team from the Borderland will look to write a different story as the team is going into this match with a confidence that has not been seen in this club for a very long time. Things are looking up for the Bravos and with a win tonight they will undoubtedly turn themselves into one of the surprises of the tournament.

Tonight’s match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. MST kickoff and will be televised on the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

El Paso Locomotive FC will have another chance to get their first home win of the season when they host Miami FC Saturday night in downtown El Paso. This match will be a golden opportunity for El Paso to finally obtain that elusive first win at home for this 2024 season as Miami comes into the ‘Sun City’ as the worst team in the USL Championship.

It has to be said, the Locos are the second worst team in the league, both teams sitting in last place of their respective divisions. El Paso comes into Saturday's match with a scoreless draw on the road against a very good Memphis 901 FC team, while Miami suffered their 18th loss of the season, losing to Loudoun United FC 4-1.

On paper and with Miami having to make the long trip to the desert southwest all factors seem to point in favor of El Paso. Locomotive head coach Wilmer Cabrera is still cautious…as he should be. Cabrera said, “If we are too relaxed for this match Miami can cause us problems. If we approach with the mentality that we have been working with recently, having a solid defensive effort, work to create threats on goal and keep in mind that we have to constantly compete we can set ourselves up to win the match against Miami.”

Saturday’s match for El Paso is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. MST. Tickets for the match are still available at eplocomotive.com and the stadium box office.

Bravas look to make it two wins in row

The Bravas were able to get their first win of the 2024 Apertura season last Saturday night defeating Santos Laguna femenil at home 3-1. The Bravas fell behind early in the match and ended up dominating the team from Torreon, Coahuila to win in a thorough and convincing fashion.

Star forward Jasmine Casarez returned to action, playing for a little more than 30 minutes. She had missed the first three matches of the regular season due to injury.

Up next for FC Juarez will be a road match in the state of Sinaloa, when they face Mazatlan FC. Mazatlan is currently in last place in the general standings table, failing to obtain a lone point thus far this season. However, they have only played two matches thus far while a majority of the teams in Liga BBVA MX Femenil have played four.

Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 9 p.m. MST.
