Sunday’s game in Tacoma started with three scoreless innings before turning into a 14-12 slugfest won by the El Paso Chihuahuas. There were seven lead changes in the game, as five different relievers were given blown saves. Both teams lost multiple-run leads multiple times.

After Xavier Avery hit a three-run, go-ahead home run in the bottom of the eighth for Tacoma, the Chihuahuas pieced together one final comeback in the top of the ninth. Down to their final out, Jace Peterson hit a two-run double to push El Paso ahead 13-12. Peterson scored one batter later on Brooks Conrad’s automatic double to make the score 14-12.

Conrad went 4-for-6 with a home run and five RBIs in the win. Jeff Francoeur went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, his eighth homer of the season and second of the year at Cheney Stadium. Eight of the nine Chihuahuas starting players had hits in the win. The Chihuahuas have won three of the first four games since arriving in Tacoma and have taken five of seven at Cheney Stadium in 2014.

The late innings of Sunday’s game were played through a steady drizzle and rain is expected for Mondayafternoon’s series finale.

In the eighth, Brooks Conrad hits a 3-Run home run to put the Chihuahuas back in front.

After falling behind again, Jace Peterson put the Chihuahuas ahead to stay in the ninth with a 2-Run double.
