Two teams have put in a request to interview Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen for their vacant head coaching job, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts are both looking to the Philadelphia coordinator as a possible candidate to fill their vacant head coaching position.

The Texans have also requested permission to interview Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.

Steichen, 37, is expected to be a busy man with interviews. The Eagles’ offensive coordinator since 2021 joined Philadelphia after serving as the Chargers' interim offensive coordinator in 2019 before taking on the full-time role in 2020.

Philadelphia's offense has seen major improvement under Steichen finishing with a top-5 offense in his second season as the play-caller.  Last year, his first as the Eagles offensive coordinator, the Eagles ranked 12th in points per game, that number improved to third this season.

Steichen first started coaching in the NFL in 2011 as a defensive assistant with the San Diego Chargers. From there he went on to become an offensive assistant with the Cleveland Browns, before heading to to the Chargers.  He was the Chargers quarterbacks coach and then became the teams coordinator.

He worked with Eagles current head coach Nick Sirianni with the Chargers, and came to Philadelphia when Sirianni was hired in 2021.

He would be a big loss for the Eagles, who have finally given Jalen Hurts some stability with the play caller.
