Nick Saban has made a habit of reeling in the big fish. After years of landing four and five-star talent, the Alabama head coach turned that expression into a literal one.

Saban told reporters that he caught a 6-foot, 180-pound tarpon off the Gulf Coast on Monday.

All 14 Southeastern Conference coaches are in Destin, Florida this week for SEC Spring Meetings discussing rules and issues affecting college football. While Saban spent much of his time pushing for uniformed rules across the power 5 conferences, he led off with this deep sea story.

That fish would be about 100 pounds short of the world record, but it would still outsize the head coach, who stands 5-foot-6 and weighs right around 185 pounds. There are no pictures of the catch yet, but we'll be sure to share it if we find it.
