Week Eight of Football Friday Night showcased a showdown between two 1-6A heavyweights that took more than four quarters to decide, another double-header at the SAC, and three 5A programs that further distanced themselves from the rest of their competition.

On Thursday Night, El Dorado defeated Montwood for the first time in their short history 42-0.

In our Apex by Sunglass Hut Game of the Week, Franklin and Americas faced-off in a battle of the heavyweights.  The Cougars jumped out to a 14-0 lead before Americas got back into the game at 14-10.  When Franklin jumped out to a 28-17 lead in the third quarter, the Trailblazers scored fourteen unanswered points to take a 31-28 lead.  At the end of regulation, the teams were tied at 38-38.  Franklin scored the game-winning field goal to win 41-38.

Ysleta jumped out to a 28-7 lead before holding on to the 35-28 victory over Hanks.

El Paso beat Austin 21-10 to win the 84th meeting of the Battle of the Claw.

Chapin shutout Irvin 55-0 to earn the easy homecoming win.

Del Valle dominated Bel Air 48-3.

Canutillo continued its dominance of District 1-5A, beating Burges 52-0.

Eastlake shutout Parkland 27-0 in the first game of a double-header at the SAC.

Riverside earned their first 2-5A victory of the season, beating Horizon 50-20.

Coronado allowed Socorro to get within a touchdown before winning 48-34 in the second game of the SAC's doubleheader.

Andress routed Jefferson 66-6.

Fabens scored late to beat Mountain View 7-3.

Andrews dominated San Elizario 47-8.

Brownfield trampled Tornillo 45-0.

Cathedral scored sixteen unanswered points to turn an 8-7 halftime deficit to a 23-8 win over Capitan.

Wink beat Van Horn 30-19.

Las Cruces dominated Gadsden 48-6.

Las Cruces Onate scored 49 unanswered points to beat Deming 49-14.

Los Lunas turned a close 15-13 halftime lead over Santa Teresa into a convincing 51-19 victory.
