Colts’ QB Peyton Manning Will Sit Out Game for First Time Since 1997
Peyton Manning’s amazing streak of 227 consecutive starts will come to an end this Sunday amid news that Manning has been officially ruled out for the Colts’ opener against the Houston Texans.
“To say I am disappointed in not being able to play is an understatement,” Manning said. “The best part about football is being out there on the field playing with my teammates. It will be tough not to be out there playing for the organization and our fans.”
The four-time MVP, who is still recovering from neck surgery in May, has missed only one snap in his 13-year career. While practicing this week, Manning complained of fatigue and back pain. Kerry Collins, 38, will get the start.
