El Paso Chihuahuas Game Summary

Chihuahuas 4 Colorado Springs 3 - Monday

WP: Nix (7-3)

LP: Seidel (0-2)

S: Sullivan (12)

Time: 3:16

Attn: 2,874

Tyler Greene’s ninth inning sacrifice fly broke a late tie and helped the El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 4-3Monday night. The game’s start was delayed by a 27 minute rain delay and later interrupted in the seventh inning by a one hour and 23 minute rain delay.

The Chihuahuas had four different baserunners before making the game’s first out and scored a first inning run on Jace Peterson’s RBI single. After falling behind 3-1, the Chihuahuas came back to tie the game in the seventh inning on Cody Decker’s solo home run, his team-leading 23rd of the season, and Rocky Gale’s RBI single. Jerry Sullivan struck out the final two batters of a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Home plate umpire Jeff Morrow threw out three different Chihuahuas in separate ejections after Greene’s contested strikeout in the seventh inning. The ejections took place immediately before El Paso players walked to the clubhouse for the second rain delay, so it was unclear who was thrown out of the game. The umpiring crew announced after the game that Rico Noel, Chris Rearick and Keyvius Sampson were all thrown out of the game in the seventh.

The Chihuahuas have won five of their last seven games.

Cody Decker hit a solo shot in the sixth inning.

The winning run came from the bat of Tyler Greene in the ninth with this sac fly.

You have to listen to what happened in the seventh inning to believe it. Here is all the craziness that took place.
