Las Vegas native Donn Roach didn’t allow any earned runs in his 5.2 innings start at Cashman Field on Wednesday, as the El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Las Vegas 51s, 8-5. The Chihuahuas have won the first two games of the four-game series against first place Las Vegas and now sit in second place by themselves, 7.5 games out of first.

With a strong wind blowing out to right field early in the game, the Chihuahuas hit three home runs in the first two innings over the right field fence. Tyler Greene hit a two-run shot in the first, then Cody Decker and Taylor Lindsey combined on back-to-back home runs in the second. It was the first set of back-to-back home runs in Chihuahuas team history. The Chihuahuas later scored four runs in a five-hit eighth inning.

El Paso center fielder Rymer Liriano hit a ninth-inning double and then left the game with an apparent leg injury. With a short bench, the Chihuahuas were forced to use pitcher Keyvius Sampson in the outfield for the ninth inning. It was the fourth time this season an El Paso pitcher played outfield.

Chihuahuas infielder Tyler Greene and Las Vegas outfielder Andrew Brown were both ejected Wednesday.

Tyler Green hit this 'wind aided' home run to get the Chihuahuas going in the first inning.

The Chihuahuas has their first back to back home runs in team history come in the second inning from Cody Decker and Taylor Lindsey.

This 2-Run single from Rocky Gale in the eighth inning helped to seal the win for the Chihuahuas.
