Bethesda Softworks Brings The Elder Scrolls Online

bethsoft.com

Bethesda Softworks has just announced that their incredibly popular ‘Elder Scrolls’ series, which recently spawned Skyrim, will be continuing in The Elder Scrolls Online, an MMO being developed by ZeniMax Online Studios.

This will be the very first multiplayer game in the series, which is already known to have caused many a gamer to lock himself in his house for months on end, emerging pale and confused hundreds of hours later only to scamper away at the sight of the sun. If playing Skyrim for 200-300 hours (which many people have done!) isn’t enough, The Elder Scrolls Online threatens to rule your life for years.

Console gamers won’t be getting in on the fun – not yet, at least. It’s currently being developed for PC and Mac under industry vet Matt Fior and takes place a millennium before the events of Skyrim, allowing you to play through stories you might have read in books in the last few installments. The main plot involves players trying to stop a daedric prince named Molag Bal from pulling Tamriel into his realm. Solo questing, public dungeons, and player-driven PvP that pits three different factions against each other await.

“We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted,” said Firor. “It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”

Here’s the trailer- expect much more on the game in the upcoming months.
