While the spring and winter seasons for Conference USA were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, UTEP student-athletes maintained a steady workflow in academics and received 48 Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medals, the league office announced Friday.

The 48 medals is a school record that breaks the previous accomplishment of 42 during the 2012-13 scholastic year. These league medals are given to student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.

From Miner women's basketball routine freshmen starters Avery Crouse and Arina Khlopkova to a whopping 10 C-USA medals for the volleyball program under first-year head coach Ben Wallis, UTEP exceeded in the classroom in a big way this academic year.
