As the football season draws to a close, the UTEP football team (3-4, 0-3 C-USA) will face North Texas on the road on Friday, Dec. 11, instead of finishing the season at the Sun Bowl.

The Miners had planned to play the Mean Green back on Oct. 31 until UNT cited concerns with El Paso's rising COVID-19 numbers, thus postponing it to Saturday, Dec. 12. In efforts to get one last game in, UTEP will play a fifth consecutive game on the road in Denton, Texas.

“We feel playing this game in Denton will give us the best opportunity to get back on the field and compete,” head coach Dana Dimel said. “We are eager to get another game in, and this gives our team the chance to end the regular season with a .500 record.”

"It's a very, very fluid time right now and kind of crazy," Jim Senter told SportsTalk on Friday.

The Mean Green (3-5, 2-4 C-USA) are coming off a 41-32 loss to Louisiana Tech on Friday night. North Texas has lost back-to-back contests against the Bulldogs and UTSA (49-17).

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. MT. It will be televised on ESPN 3 along with our coverage on 600 ESPN El Paso.
