Don't look now, but the UTEP Miners are 9-5 and tied for third in Conference USA. Actually, DO look now, because the Miners looked good in their road sweep last weekend!

UTEP survived a scare at North Texas, winning 77-71 in overtime, but led wire-to-wire at Autry Court in a 79-71 win over Rice. Handling the Owls was especially important because it keeps Rice a full game away from the Miners' spot among the top four in C-USA and a first-round bye in the conference tournament coming up.

With thanks to our friends at Mean Green Productions and Rice Athletics, we're able to show you just how good the Miners looked with a little hype vid.

You'll notice there are quite a few Paul Thomas highlights. As well there should be for the C-USA Player of the Week. The sophomore forward averaged a double-double in both road wins, notching career highs for points (23) and rebounds (14) against the Mean Green, then following that with 17 points and 11 boards at Rice.

We'll see soon enough if the Miners can keep their momentum. UTEP will play its last road games of the regular season at Florida Atlantic (5-9 in C-USA) Thursday night and at Florida International (2-12) Saturday night.
