UTEP legend and current Arizona Cardinals offensive guard Will Hernandez is returning to the Sun City to host his inaugural “Mijo Things” youth football camp on Friday, June 21, at Hanks High School.

Registration for the youth camp is free and will be live online on April 12 at 10 AM (MST) on a first come, first serve basis. The camp is open to 3rd through 9th graders and will be featuring professional players, college athletes and other volunteers to coach the campers. The camp will provide guest speakers, a Q&A session and lunch.

After wrapping up an All-American collegiate career at UTEP, Hernandez was selected by the New York Giants in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. After the 2021 season, Hernandez signed with the Cardinals, where he has played for the past three years. He played in 75 games and made 69 starts during his first five seasons in the league (2018-22). This past season, Hernandez played and started in all 17 games for the Cardinals.

My goal is to host a free camp in El Paso to help continue to enrich and provide an opportunity for them in the community” said Will Hernandez.

"Mijo Things" is a mantra that Hernandez developed and he uses the phrase on a lot of his social media handles. It means "my son" in Spanish and pays homage to Hernandez's Latino roots. He has developed merch for "Mijo Things" such as shirts and hats.

Hernandez has been back to El Paso over the years as a guest with the A&A All the Way Foundation Softball Game and Youth Football Camp.

The camp organizers are encouraging parents with questions or sponsors to contact organizer Chelsirae Walker by email at chelsiraeyvonne@gmail.com
