The 2020-21 UTEP men's basketball season came to an end last night in Frisco, Texas in the second round of the C-USA Tournament. The Miners, a 5th seed in the Western Division, lost to the Florida Atlantic Owls 76-70 in a tight game that was marred by controversy. With the score tied late in the second half, Bryson Williams made a move on the baseline and appeared to be fouled for a three-point play. Instead, veteran official Kerry Sitton blew his whistle and said that Williams was out of bounds. After watching the replay, it was obvious that Bryson's foot was nowhere close to being out of bounds. The Twitter world soon erupted around the country by people watching the game on ESPN+.

There were plenty of other Tweets that I could not include because they included words that might be a little inappropriate for your reading pleasure. But you get the idea. That five point swing killed the momentum for the Miners, who did not have a field goal in the last six-plus minutes of the ballgame. After UTEP lost the game and their C-USA Championship hopes came to an end, Miner fans went back on Twitter and vented on another frustrating failure of a season.

However, some fans had a positive spin on the season.
